Planning worksheet

Hi all,

I have a question around planning worksheet, I am generating plans for the remainder of 2025 but when I do so its asking me to plan several planned orders (which I expect) however its planning most of these in an unrealistic fashion like all in one day and at the same start time, is there not a way the system can understand start and finish time.

i.e.

job one start 01/10/2025 at 6am finish 3pm
job two start 01/10/2025 at 3:01pm and finish 7:52pm
and so on.
I have the same question (0)

    Hello,

In Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, the planning worksheet typically assumes infinite capacity, meaning it doesn't automatically consider specific start and finish times for jobs. To achieve more realistic scheduling, you need to set up and use routings and capacity constraints for work centers and machine centers. This setup allows the system to better understand and schedule jobs based on available capacity and realistic time frames.

in the system we have set up routings for all products below is an example of the results I've got when re running the planning worksheet,

The routing above relates to the item below qty 10,000 starting at 20:05, but its suggesting we can run another product at 20:52 but based on calculation of setup 75 mins +  runtime (10,000 * 0.1) = 1,075 minutes (just under 18 hours)

    Capacities for the work centre:

is there anything that's been setup wrong

I Don't know much details of your practical case, but In Concurrent capacity is "1" is mentioned so i guess you are working Work Center and Machine Center Simultaneously.

And Start time is 30/10/2025 at 20.05 and End time is at 6 AM. So, the work center is working for 10 Hours.
Setup time is calculated only once. And Run time 0.1 (0.06 for Minutes (10% of 60 minutes)).

    So, the Work center will work for 10 Hours (10000*0.06 = 600 Minutes / 60 Minutes = 10 Hours).

I hope your issue will resolve.

To achieve your requirement you can use capacity constrained resource function in Business central Base.

You can define Critical Load against specific Work center/machine center.

    Here attaching images for functionality.
