Partner Management

Are there any standard functions within MS CRM that handles partner management?  Example would be a company that has customers or accounts and then has resellers/partners that resells their products.  This would mean that CRM is managing the companies customers and the reseller/partners customers.

    I have done solutions like this multiple times. The quickest way to do this is just to create a 1-m relationship between accounts and accounts.

    You could also choose to utilize the default functionality of parent company in CRM to define the partner ownership.

    There are up and downsides to using the default parent company relationship. The upside is that all dialoque is inherited on the parent company as well..

    The downside is that you will have a hard time registering company relationships on your end-clients.

    The upside of using your own relationship is that you will be able to filter the lookup to only look for companies with partner status.

    Rune, if I use this type of configurations, and I assign leads/opportunities to CRM users "and" partners, how would I be able to handle that process?

    If you want to assign clients to partners.. then you will need to create them as users in CRM.

    In that case, I would simply utilize the default functionality of Users and Business units in CRM. Then the ownership (internal user or partner user) would be registered as the owner.

    many companies dont want their partners in their system though... so its a partner management system and not a partner accessed system and the partners can then access a website which lodges the data in CRM.. without having access to CRM.
