Lead Source field on Opportunity Screen

I recently imported a number of Leads into CRM with a specific trade show as the Lead Source.  I realized once users started to Qualify the Leads the lead source field does not carry over.  I tried to modify the form and Lead Source is not an option to add to the Opportunity Screen.  I would like to track the specific Lead from import to Opportunity to Win/Loss.

You can create a similar field on the opportunity and then use relationship mapping to copy the field when qualifying.

    See msdn.microsoft.com/.../gg334512.aspx

I would suggest you create a Campaign to represent the trade show (you can fill in lots of things such as costs as well, but keep it as bare-bones and simple as you like).

Use that as the Source Campaign for the Leads. This does carry through when Qualified.

You can also temporarily edit the Opportunity form (or a copy of it) to make this field not read-only, so that you can bulk edit the records already created by qualification and set the Source campaign there too (eg look for Opps where related Originating Lead has the Lead Source you specified, likewise Account, Contact).

    Hi Vweber,

Create the same field in the opportunity and try to mapping them.

Please refer the link below, it may help you

Check the mappings between lead and opportunity to see if lead source is mapped to opportunity.

If it isn't then map it, you may need to add a new field of the same type as lead source.

Or you could create a workflow on opportunity create to set the lead source on the opportunity.  This could also be run on the opportunities where it wasn't set

I may be late to the party but I am having this problem. Do I create 1:N relationship in the opportunity or lead entity? lead source field (1) in the lead entity to lead source field (N) in the opportunity entity or opposite? I created a new field in the opportunity entity and not sure how to map it to a lead source field in the lead entity.

I created a new lead source field in the opportunity entity and mapped it to lead source in the lead entity. The lead source field in the opportunity isn't showing anything. Am I supposed to copy the labels and values under options section? I understand that data types must be same.
