Hi,

I am new to AdxStudio and wanted to design my own website. Would creating a new website from CRM under Portals and changing the website name in web.config in MasterPortal solution will work? or do I need to create a whole new ASP.Net Application.

Please suggest.

Thanks,

Mridula

This may occur because you have not associated any web page with this new web site. If you go in Settings >> Adxportal there might be an entity web pages, and this entity has a Lookup to the Web site, you should change this field to the new web site you created. Or if you want to start from scratch then you should create new web pages and link them to this new web site. Try to understand how the old website works. I guess if you have done correctly web site creation than the reason you are getting this 404 Error page doesnt exist because of what have I just described. So your next step is starting to associate Web Pages to this new Web Site

    Hi Mridula,

Once you setup the website and try to browse it first time(assuming you have setup CRM), you will be prompted to connect to a CRM instance and choose website version to connect to like Basic Portal, Customer portal, etc.

If you want your own website you can choose basic portal on this connection and use the website.

I will explain you every field in Web page entity so you can understand

    1. Name => This is like the title of the web page, you can set it like you want
    2. Web site => This is the web site this web page is part of, in your case Test
    3. Parent Page => This specifies if this web page is part of a bigger Web page, leave it empty for the moment
    4. Partial Url => This is relative path of your web page, like in MVC. For example, if you leave it / then url for this webpage would be www.mydomain.com, if you set it /test then the url of webpage would be www.mydomain.com/test
    5. Publishing State => if Published means that this web page is active(online)
    6. PageTemplate is a lookup to Page Template entity

    In PageTemplate entity

    1. Name => This is like the title
    2. Web site => This is the web site this web page is part of, in your case Test
    3. Type => set it Rewrite
    4. Rewrite url => This is the physical location of file in your project
    5. Entity name => You need to select adx_webpage (If you cant see the select list in the right you need to open with Internet explorer)
