Sale below inventory levels

 Hello
I have this scenario where we want to track items using lot and package numbers.
Problem is there are some locations where we sell below inventory levels(we know product is incoming).
I am able to post a sales invoice for an item below inventory level when tracking is NOT enabled.
With items that are tracked, i have to input the lot no which i do not have because items are not yet received.
When i try to input a lot number manually(without selecting existing entries) i get the error : Item tracking cannot be fully applied.
Is there any workaround to this scenario?
Thanks
I have the same question (0)

You mean, negative inventory is allowed in your system? And you want to ship out when there is no inventory and lot numbers?
Unfortunately, as far as I know this cannot be done. (Even if you create a Lot Number Card first, you cannot select it because there is no inventory)

Hopefully other experts can give you better advice.

    Thanks.

I don't think you could sell non existing lot tracked items cause BC will check the item ledger entries to reserve those as standard process. It works if you allow negative inventory for non tracked items.

workaround: You may get around this by creating a new item tracking code that doesn't need tracking information for sales. But if there are already transactions posted for that item, you won't be able to do so unless all items have been sold.

There is no workaround. It sounds like you have the solution in your question, which is to not use lots if your process requires you to have negative inventory.

If you have lot tracking enabled, then you cannot have negative inventory. Every time you sell a lot, you need to select from a lot that you already have in inventory.

First, selling below inventory or letting your quantity on hand go negative will create costing issues for you.

Second, with lot tracking, you are specifically telling the system that additions and subtractions from inventory must be done with a lot number. What lot number would you use for the sale that takes inventory negative?
