Hi,

I´m trying to do a MO Receipt Entry but an error is displayed as follow "Cannot post this receipt because the labor and/or machine costs are greater than the amount available in WIP".

Conditions:

1. Item type is set to FIFO Periodic.

2. Costing Valoration Method:  Standard Cost.

    There is a setup in Mfg System Prefs to allow WIP to go negative.    Mark that and then try.   I was taught this early on in using Mfg.   On a side note, are you entering in actual labor, backflushing labor?

    Hi Dan,

    It let me post the receipt and allowed WIP to go negative. I guess i'm wondering why this happened in the first place. When the MO was released, the normal entry is credits to labor applied and O/H applied - then corresponding debits to WIP. In this case, the credit to labor applied and debit to WIP did not happen. When the MO receipt posted, it still credited WIP for the labor and added the cost to finished goods. This left me with a credit balance in the WIP account.

    We backflush labor for all MO's which is based on our routers.

    The WIP account gets closed out when you do the MO Close process.
