Purpose of Role Centers

Hello,

Please allow me to ask a very fundamental question.

Role Centers, are they used to control access?

Or Are Role Centers and Permission Sets are not directly linked to each other and for the complete access control, do we have to set up Permission Sets?

My understanding is the 2nd one but please advise.

The Role Center is the home page, a landing page that is designed for the needs of a specific role in an organization. Depending on your role, the Role Center gives you an overview of the business, your department, or your personal tasks.

The default role assigned to most new users is Business Manager, but you can switch to another role that uses a Role Center that fits your needs better.

Hi,

Role Center is the home page for the user and it shows the task, activities etc. on Home Page (Role Center Page) related to the Particular Role
For Example- If you assign the "Service Manager" role center to any user then it will show the key activities of that role on the "RoleCenter Page"-

There is no link between Permission set and Role Center.

You need to create the permission sets and then assign it to the users in order to control the access.

Some people including me have been confused about the Role Center <-> Permission Set relationship but your advice clarified it.
