Hi

We know that we can assign one BOM line item to one operations in the routing

But requirement is one BOM item is required in more than one operation

Example for the FG we have BOM line item 1, BOM line item 2, BOM line item 3, BOM line item 4. this FG routing have 5 operations 10, 20, 30 ,40 and 50.

The BOM line item 2 is required in the operation 20, 30 and 50.

Help us how can we do this

Thanks in advance

I have the same question (0)

    Hello Nizham,

If these operations are executed by resources that are closely located, you could use the same input resource location for the three resources (like a common shelving unit).

If that is not the case and you want the items to be brought to separate locations, you would need to have three BoM lines each pointing to a different operation.

As Danny365 said, you need a BOM setup like this:

Thanks Danny and Colby Gallagher for your response but as I said our requirement the one BOM line item only need to brought in 2 different operation

Example the BOM line item is Wood cut piece 01 is brought to the operation 10 for Drilling and the same Wood cut piece 01 brought to the operation 20 Fixing the screw and same Wood cut piece 01 is brought to the operation 50 for assembly

In this case how we can define this

    Thanks in advance

    Hi nizham,

In the scenario you describe in your reply, you would only identify operation 10 in teh BoM line.  This is the operation that requires the raw material; the subsequent operations merely continue to transform the item that has already been altered.   After operation 10, the item is theoretically "work in progress".  The item(s) altered at operation 10 would be moved on the production floor to the next operation using paperwork attached to a cart or put in on a shelf for use at operation 20 or whatever.  This movement of wip is implied by the route network (eg. operation 10 feeds into operation 20, operations 20 and 30 feed into operation 50 etc).

If the item's movement needs to be tracked between operations, you would need to break the production into several production orders to add semi-finished items in inventory.   In your scenario, a first production order would produce a semi-finished item (drilled wood piece) in inventory.  The next production order would use that drilled wood piece in its own BoM.  You would not go to that length in a scenario as simple as you describe, but in cases where you need to stock or track that semi-finished , that is how you would address.

    Regards,

    Danny
