Parent/child relationships on sales order lines - utilization for warehouse processes

Hi,

I am trying to figure out how the warehouse processes can utilize parent/child relationships found on the sales order lines (if at all).
I am aware of the following parent/child relationships:
  • Parent Lot Id (used by the product bundling functionality)
  • Supplementary item reference (used by the supplementary items functionality)
  • Are there other parent/child relationships?
Is there anyone who have insights into how these can be used in the warehouse processes?

Extra question, is there a reason why the supplementary items functionality does not use the "Parent Lot Id" relationship? (instead it has its own table) Something to be aware of here?
I have the same question (0)

I'm not very familiar with supplementary items but have learned a great deal about how an advanced warehouse does and doesn't deal with bundle components in the last few months. When the BOM bundle explodes, the parent cancels and only the children/components will release to the warehouse. The Parent lot id will reference all components relate to the parent BOM.

Do you have advanced warehousing set up?

Some things to watch out for:
    1. Users short picking or reduce picking any bundle component will cause an error at the time of packing slip posting
    2. Nesting BOM bundles will cause difficulty because the nested bundle may release but not the larger bundle
    3. Component quantities will be based on the correct number for the full amount of the whole bundle quantity (i.e. if customer orders 5 of the bundle and child a requires 2 per bundle - for a total of 10 - but only 2 full bundles can be filled (4 are picked) that will cause an error when posting the packing slip

Parent sku will show on confirmation to customer.
Child/component skus will show on packing slip
Parent sku will show on invoice
