Hi,

Can we trigger a plugin or work flow for a data import job?

I need to set some notification and field update on creation and completion of a data import job. I couldn't find the import entity in the plugin registration tool or workflows.

if someone have done something similar to this please advice.

Thanks In advance.

Nijo

    Hello Nijo;

    The Import Data tool doesn't allow for plugins or workflows to be associated to it as it's just an hosting entity for what the data you are importing is. It's like if you use it to import Contacts; you'd be able to have plugins and workflows for the Contact creation and they would trigger like a normal event.

    In some cases with mass data load it's best to disable or deactivate workflows/plugins.

    Hi Jason,

    Thank you for the response, I need a specific action to be performed on the completion of all data import jobs.

    Hello Nijo;

    Oh now I understand and then this action is to then update multiple of the updated records?

    If this is the case then there really isn't any supported customizations to allow for this Nijo.

    Generally all import jobs will cause the relevant create/update pipeline to be used. You can certainly create a plugin to register on whatever the imported entity record. I think you should be able to determine that an import job was the primary operation. In this case you can use this to set a flag and after the last imported record timeout and trigger your desired workflow.
