Management Reporter

Would someone be able to kindly tell me whether I can install the Management Reporter on a stand alone server, along with a client?. And if so, how would I have to configure my machine, to be able to successfully connect to MR?.

I am somewhat confused about this application that supposedly requires Domains and Active Directories, and creating user accounts that take so much time to replicate through AD. I am hoping someone can throw some light on this matter, and ease my headache. No matter what approach I take, something seems to be going wrong.

Your expertise and insight is most appreciated. Looking forward to an early response.

Thank You to all in advance.

Technically you can. But, you must have your machine set up as a domain controller and you must have IIS running on it because IIS is how the reports are delivered.

Hi Charles:  Thank you so much for the prompt response. I was beginning to wonder if it be possible at all. I am goint to configure my machine as a Domain Controller in a domain, and make sure IIS 6.0 is running.

Should I run into any issues, may I drop you a note? - If not I can do another posting, if it is asking too much of you. But I appreciate your guidance. Thank you very much.

Are you installing MR stand alone for testing purposes?

I did mine through vpc, could be your other option. I nominated the server inside the image 'guest' as my domain.

I had setup MR on a standalone PC last month, I documented my progress along with some resources here - http://www.jivtesh.com/2010/07/management-reporter-installation-guides.html

Take a look, hopefully it will save you some time.

    Re: Re: Management Reporter

Thanks Sunbeam:  Your response and suggestions are appreciated. I am not so fond of the VPC option, since I am going to do many demos and training sessions, and VPC's did not quite cut the mustard in the past. I decided to setup a separate partition and load MR and all its features.

Thank you so much & kind regards,

    Deesom.

Hi Jivtesh:  Thank you very much for your quick response, and for sharing your expertise with those of us who seem to need a hand. I sincerely appreciate your expertise, but just as importantly, your willingness to share that knowledge with others, freely and unconditionally.

Once again, I thank you for your gift  of time!
