Error "A connection to the server could not be established. Check the server address and try again or contact your system administrator." when connecting to the server in Management Reporter.

I successfully installed Management Reporter server components on the server.  After installing the Management Reporter client on the same machine, I get the error above when connecting.  I see the MR DB in SQL.  I checked PartnerSource and found 2 KBs: 2290172 and 2406829.  I followed the steps in the articles regarding the connection string in web.config file and, cause and resolution #8 where you give access to the anonymous user since the event viewer error is exactly the same as described.  I'm lost and don't know what else to try.  Hope someone could point me to the right direction.  Thank you!

The same issue even i got in my one of MR 2012 instance, i have fixed the issue. Please find the cause and resolution below.

    Cause:-

    1. In the MR Configuration Console----> DataMart  and  AX 2012 Configured user login account might be disabled or missing proper permissions, so the AX and MR database is not in sync.

    Resolution:-

    In the MR Configuration Console:-

    1. Properly Configure with the following things, server name, GP database name,MR database name, integration port by default it will be "4712" must be opened in the firewall to communicate regularly.

    2. Update the GP credentials with the proper user who having the "dbreader" or "sysadmin" role in SQL database server where the GP and MR database is placed.

    3. Update the DataMart Credentials with the above mentioned same user.

    4. The Configured user account should not be disabled and password for the user account must be never expired.

    5. Once the above steps are completed, sync the GP and MR database again. In the MR Configuration Console the status should be like this "Initial integration is complete. Periodic integration's will occur"

    6. Test the connection once it is succeeded then enter it in your MR client console

    Rocky,

Have you verified that both MR services are running on the server?

What accounts did you use when installing MR? Did you use a separate account to run the services? What account did you choose to be the MR admin? Did you opt for mixed mode authentication or sql authentication?
