Web Forms : Portals : You dont have the appropriate permissions

Hi,

I have an entity (say 'ABC') which actually handles some inputs form the clients.
Background :
My colleague creates a web form (say 'xxx') with steps for this entity ABC, but something didnt turn out the way she expected it to work.
and since she went to be busy with other priority items, I took this task up.

I was able to successfully accomplish what was required, i created a web form (say 'yyy'), it worked as expected for a month and above and one fine day (may be someone changed something) and i get "You dont have appropriate permissions" while i access 'yyy'. but there is no such message while i try to use 'xxx'.

Details :
there are 2 web forms (xxx and yyy) pointing to same Entity (ABC)
The entity permissions are same for 'xxx' and 'yyy'.
Web Roles are also same for 'xxx' and 'yyy'.

I know there is something that must be different between these, i am not able to figure this out.

Can someone help me out with this ?

Thanks in Advance.

    Hi Arun,

At what point in the process do you get the message?  Is it when the web form loads on the first step, or after click a button, or some place else?  How many steps do you have in your web form?

    Hi Arun,

    Please cross check:

    • Web Roles is associated with Entity Permissions, sometimes we mistakenly miss it to associate.
    • Someone from your team might have added any lookup field and you do not have permission on that entity. Even cross check all the lookup fields (referring entities) once, whether having appropriate entity permissions and web roles associated with it.
    • If anything does not seems to be working, expose all the fields/tab/section one by one on the portal instead of exposing the full form. By doing this you can find the culprit. Understand it's quite boring task but probably you can find the root cause of the same.

If found useful, please mark the answer as verified.

    Hi Nick,

Thats a very good question, in fact i missed adding them to the details.

The message comes after a click of a button. The web form loads fine for the first step, but not after that.

    Thanks,

    Arun

    Hi Arun,

Are the first steps for both web forms (xxx and yyy) configured for the same Form and perhaps Tab?

I would second Arpit's recommendations.  There must be some difference on that first page (even if it's a hidden field) that causes you to have a permissions issue.  You might have to remove field by field until you don't get the error.
