Trying to delete a GL Account

One of our accountants was adding, editing a GL or testing something; whatever they were doing they tried to delete the GL and could not.  I cannot delete it either.  There is not history, and I am not quite understanding the error message.  When I go to delete the GL Account I get the following:

"Check G/L Acc. Deletion After must have a value in General Ledger Setup: Primary Key=. It cannot be zero or empty."

Any help would be great.

    Go to the general ledger setup page. In that page there is a field about g/l account deletion. Add a date to that field. The tooltip for the field is “Specifies if and when general ledger accounts can be deleted. If you enter a date, G/L accounts with entries on or after this date cannot be deleted.” So pick a valid date and then try again.

    Actually G/L Accounts can also be deleted if entries exists after that date (if they are in closed periods and the balance of the G/L Account is zero).

    Using the date in the General Ledger Setup is mandatory, but it does not prevent from deletion.

    It just throws another confirm message.

    And if you confirm ... you can delete the G/L Account even if entries exist after that date.

    It's the same priciple as if you want to delete the entire company ... you get a second confirm message.
