Cannot print from RMS Work Station to Work Station Printer

I have RMS set up on a POS computer running XP and just added a new computer running Vista64 as a work station and have an HP Officejet Pro 8500 and Dymo Twin Turbo 450 connected via USB to the Work Station,

I can print from all programs (except RMS) on the Work Station to either printer and can also print labels and reports from RMS on the POS computer to both printers via store network.

But whan I try to print reports from RMS on the Work Station printer I get the following message

---------------------------
Store Operations Manager - Printer Warning
---------------------------
The printer has reported that it may not be able to correctly support one or more of the specified settings. Please check that the printed pages appear as desired.

Do you want to ignore any further occurences of this warning for this document?
---------------------------
Yes   No
---------------------------

The formatting in the thumbnail is off and when I click the Change Printer Properties button nothing happens.  When I try to print anyway I get this message

---------------------------
Store Operations Manager - Printer Error
---------------------------
An error occured while trying to access the printer.

Please make sure that you have a printer installed and that it is properly configured before continuing.
---------------------------
OK

I have the same problem trying to print labels and cannot get RMS on the Work Station to recognize the Dymo Printer.  It tries to print labels to the HP, even though RMS on my POS computer has no problems.

what version of RMS or POS do you have installed.  Some older version will not work correctly on a 64bit OS

    I'm using RMS 2.0.

I thought that the problem may have had to do with register settings as the remote computer was also set to register1 in Store Ops Administrator.  I switched it to register 2 and it worked fine but the next day reverted to the same problem even though the settings didn't change.

    Hello Rober,

Store Operations does not support the use of remote printers.  Sometimes this type of environment may work, but also sometimes not.  As you note that there were no changes in the settings and it still stopped working, it is similar to that in the respect that if two places use the same environment, one might work fine completely where the other does not.

I would suggest moving one of the printers to the computer using Store Operations and have the other computers remotely access it there.

The officejet 8500 should have a network option.  You could hook up the pritner to the network via a patch cable.  Then re-install the print driver using the network option.

This would then make the printer appear to Windows as a local printer on both stations.  This would definately resolve your issue.

The quick installation guide should cover this setup.

    Thanks
