CRM 2016 where are FilteredPost and FilteredPostComment

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

Hi all,

I have a task that create SSRS report to show Post, PostComment, Annotation (aka Note), and Activity (aka ActivityPointer) in chronical order.

I found there are 2 set of views. One with the above names, the other with "Filtered" prefixed. However, I can't find the FilteredPost and FilteredPostComment. It is fine since I have system admin and owner of the database and I can execute the report under my credential, but non-system admin user can't and all my user are non-sys-admin.

So I am curious that if we have FilteredAnnotaion, FilteredActivityPoint then why don't CRM include these 2 views out of the box?

Can I manually create these 2 views and grant select only access to database role CRMReaderRole? I know that CRM don't want to support direct database access, but do I have other choice?

I'm using CRM on-premise

Thanks,

Sam

It's not recommended to manually alter "*_MSCRM" database because you could make a pretty big mess there and trust me it's really BIG mess then. Maybe it's a better idea to make a staging database in this case.

I rechecked how it work and it seems that Microsoft instead of FilteredView for Posts uses stored procedures like p_retrieveposts.

I'm in agreement with Ivan - you should not touch CRM DB. Alternatively you can create additional DB and use cross-DB queries to get access to posts and comments from CRM DB.
