Lot Tracking and FIFO issuing without Expiry Date

Hi All

I know in advanced warehousing there is an option to FEFO issuing of items. We have lot numbers but no expiry date. Is there any way to set the system so the first CREATED lot number gets allocated on a warehouse pick list? Will FIFO as a costing method help in this scenario? Basic requirement is to create (ideally automatically) lot numbers when receiving and then issue the first created lot first.

Thanks

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Samantha

Looks like FEFO is required for Bin to work with FIFO logic and automation. Otherwise it will not work. I hope Ben Baxter  or Guy McKenzie  can provide more info.

Below section of blog mention this:

    Thanks for the mention mahgah.

You are already looking in the right area.

Set the pick policy for locations to ‘Pick according to FEFO’

On the Item Tracking card, set the Use expiration date to true but make sure ‘Strict Expiration Posting’ and ‘Require Expiration Date’ are false.

On the item card set an expiry date calculation. It can be anything you like. Either a long time in the future or 1D would be my suggestion.

Business Central will always apply the same calculation of expiry date upon receipt so expiry dates will naturally reflect the relative age of goods.

The key thing is that you have set the expiry date on the item tracking to not be an expiration policy so BC doesn’t actually care what the dates are. BC just uses them to suggest the oldest stock (first expiring) on the pick.

Awesome.. Thanks guys. Tested and worked well..set date calculation to 0D so expiry date acts as the creation date
