User dashboard fails to after clicking OK on access denied message

Hi,

I am seeing this in a newly configured organization.
I'm running CRM 2016 v8.1 and have set the security role to lock down all activities to Business Unit. e.g. a user can create and view content for their own business unit only.

When assigning an item outside the business unit I get the 'access denied' on the recipient session [correct].
When clicking OK on the 'access denied' messages it closes but the window then presents a CRM page with a spinning wheel and 'Loading business logic' image. The session fails to progress until the user clicks on another menu item.

Any help correcting this behavior would be greatly appreciated. Is it possible to have the dashboard for the user load after acknowledging the message?
