Open and pending sales orders in MRP run

Hello

Is there any way to exclude open and pending approval sales orders from the MRP run.

The challenge we have is that until a sales order has been approved the business has not committed to it and I cannot see a way of being able to (i) see the sales order document status against a proposed production on the planning worksheet (ii) filter the planning worksheet to run using only released sales orders. We do not want to be triggering purchase orders and creating production orders where we have not committed to the sales order demand.

I hope I’m not just the only one and there is a solution to combat this.

Any thoughts / suggestions appreciated.

Unfortunately, there is no out-of-the-box setting for this.  You either use Sales Quotes and convert to a Sales Order when ready to trigger demand.  Or you write an extension to exclude non-Released Sales Orders from the calculation.

I do wish this was a setting and Microsoft has an ideas site where you can post suggestions like this.

Ben is correct, the demand planning engine doesn't account for the status of a sales order. The easiest solution would be as mentioned to use sales quote or blanket orders.

maybe you could try to create a virtual location for the orders that haven't been approved. Then exclude that location when running the planning worksheet. The thing I'm not sure if whether changing the location of a SO after approval would retrigger the approval process.
