Yes, it is possible, to do so you have to do some customization in the purchase order table and pages. Let me know if you need any further assistance with this.

I think the best approach would be to display the item attributes in a fact box just like the standard system does on the item card.

The you can also look at the code on the item page and see how it is done there.
