Account Segment Setup

I created a new GL # using Integration Manager and failed to use Account Segment Setup to give it a description first.

There's over 2,500 lines (different divisions/office numbers/types) for this particular number.

Is there any method to quickly add the description to that segment via PSTL or IM?

Thanks!

    Leilani,

If you used Integration Manager to upload a new Chart of Accounts, but hadn't completed the Account Segment Setup to automate the descriptions, the best approach would be to use a Macro, to rapidly remove the new Chart of Accounts, then complete the setup and rerun your Integration. Please be aware, if you don't set up segment information for the main account segment, you may find your descriptions incomplete.

I often use Macros to perform segment setup, when there are numerous main accounts.

If you want to construct description from segment definitions and update GL accounts, Harry's suggestion is the best way. However, you have to begin from the scratch.

If you have description already for these accounts and simply want to update them on GL account master, then you can use Macro to update the GL accounts. But this would require some skill and bit more time.

Easiest, but completely technical, option is to update the description for all accounts directly on SQL GL Account Master table. This would most probably take not more than minutes, but will do the job perfectly. You must know SQL. Otherwise you should contact your partner/consultant to get this done.

You could use SmartList to export the accounts and Integration Manager to reimport.

You would need three columns on the file; Account,Category and Description.
