Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 Natural Account Description Changes

I have two questions centered around a global natural account description change.  Client's COA 2 segments.

First Segment = Entity

Second Segment = Natural or Main Account

Only the First Segment has been filled out in the Financial Segment Setup Window (GL40200).  Second Segment is blank.  They want to make a global account description change for one of their natural accounts.  We tried using the Account Segment Setup Window, when we said yes to roll down changes it appended the new name to the old name in the Account Maintenance Window it did not overwrite it.  We saw the append in the Account Maintenance Window and in the GL00100 table.  What is the proper process to update the account description?

Second question - when doing an MR 2012 Account Detail report, and we drill down on the account where we just changed the account description we do not see the new account description.  Can you please let me know what table MR pulls the Account Description for an Account Detail Report.  We tried playing around with the Account Detail Options in the Report Definition window, but did not find the right combination to display the new account description.  Also created a new row with just that the new account, that pulled over the new description in the Row Definition, but still displayed the old Account Description in the drilldown to the Account level.  The GL00100 table showed the new account description.  We did not refresh the data mart yet.  That is the next step.  However, we still do have questions on where does MR pull the Account Descriptions for an Account Level Report and is the only way to refresh this is via a Data Mart Refresh, because they plan on making changes through out the year?
