Automatic item lot number sales order

Hello everyone,

My client will use lot tracking in the future. That is why I have enabled item tracking for the items.

My location setup is the following: (They only have 1 location)

My Item tracing code:

When I enter a sales order I can select the lot numbers at the item tracking lines by selecting entries.

But this is the problem! My customer does not want to sellect the correct lot number for every line / item.

They want this to be automatically selected.

So they don't have to assign it themselves.

Is this possible? And how do I do this?

Or should this be programmed?

I hope someone can help me.

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards Melissa

    Melissa,

Out-of-the-Box auto-application of the Lot Number is not possible. Even if I use Reservations, the Lot Number is not auto-reserved and selected. The Warehouse or Shipper has to record the Lot Number pulled from the shelf/bin. Now this does not mean you cannot add this functionality by talking to your Partner. If you are doing Warehouse Shipment/Picking then I would leave this blank and let the Warehouse process input the value. Without knowing the exact reason you want to pre-enter the Lot number before picking and shipping, if you need this talk to your Partner.  Also, not sure if you use Expiration Date processing, which could play into this as well for available selection.

Hope this answers your question, but if you want to chat more feel free to email me steven.chinsky@wipfli.com

    Thanks and Stay Safe,

    Steve

Hi, would like to follow up on this post as i do have customer who also require the lot number to be auto assigned based on expiry date FEFO. They cannot allow warehouse to auto assign as the warehouse may not be able to easily identify the FEFO option. Is there a way we can have this automated in Business Central Sales Order processing? If standard out of the box is not available, are there any 3rd party add on App that has this feature or how easy can we customize this option?

Hope to get advise from all expert out there.

    Thanks

Hi, I would like to follow up as well and see if anyone can make any suggestions on how to accomplish this.  We also have a requirement in D365 BC to automatically select the lot numbers for a client when they create a Sales Order.  We are going to start working on programming this however wondering if anyone was able to accomplish this and if they would share any success they had.
    Thank you,
