Unapplied amount greater than original

The original amount of the transaction was $10,593.07. There were some credits applied to it, and then it was showing unapplied amount of $14,359.45, so higher than the original amount.

We have voided those credit memo's, as they were applied in error to this transaction. Now it's showing an even higher unapplied amount of $21,964.12, so more than double the original amount. Any thoughts on what is going on here? Now the unapplied amount is showing $11,371.05.

Why would the unapplied be higher, and how to fix?
