[Solution] Can't remove field from form, is being used by system or company

Hi.

I've added a number of custom fields to a form and later decided to remove them but when trying to do so CRM won't let me.

The error message is (translated from Swedish): "The field you are trying to remove is being used by the system or the company." (If anyone has the actual error message in English, please post it in this thread so the search engines can pick it up.)

The simple solution to this is that the field is marked as required by the company in the form attributes. Modify the field to be optional and you can remove the field from the form.

    Hi Martin,

Thanks for sharing this. The corresponding English message is:

"The field you are trying to remove is required by the system or business."

Some fields you cannot remove the 'mark as required' though. On the opportunity form there are some of those attirubtes. What you can do to get rid of those, is to move them to a tab which you will then completely hide by using javascript.

    With kind regards,

Some of the fields cannot be made optional as they might be system fields.

You can create a dummy TAB and put all your unnecessary fields on this and just Set the property of Tab [Visible by default] to false.

In this way TAB would hidden and so all your fields.
