Set Default Dashboard for all Users

Hi,

How can I setup a default dashboard for all the users in CRM Online?

I logged in as an Admin and created the Dashboard which I wanted for the Users. Now when my Users log in to the CRM they get blank dashboard screen which is the first screen after log in. When I login through the Admin I see everything perfect.

How can I apply my Dashboard layout for all Users? One more important thing is that sample data for the Admin comes in by default all populated while for the Users - I have to manually search and select? Is this something normal?

Have a look at the below screenshots for details and I am using the sample data which works great under the Admin account but for users I have to customize the views one by one. I am looking to apply the same for them since we are a small team.

OK, now after a good night's sleep  I think I get it.

This whole sitemap thing is a new concept to me. I have to study this a bit more.

Thanks, but I was looking for some sort of "global default" setting with which I could set "my" dashboard as the default for all users (unless they change to a different default). I thought that solution's "Set as default" was it, but apparently not. I could of course modify the Sales Activity Social Dashboard, but I feel more comfortable screwing up something I've created myself ;-) BTW, we're using Online and the CRMUG thread refers to 2013.

The "set as default" button does not really do what it says. It really sets a dashboard as the one used for fallback - if for some reason a user's default dashboard is no longer there, or they do not have security rights to it any more, they get the fall back one instead.

You set the default dashboard for each area of the SiteMap, so for example the default dashboard someone sees in Sales > Dashboards is different than the one in Marketing or Service > Dashboards. A user can overwrite the default in their "home" area by selecting another dashboard and clicking "Set as Default" so they get that one as their first choice. They still get the system default in other areas.

More detail in this CRMUG thread:

I would recommend using XRM Toolbox SiteMapEditor tool to edit the Sitemap and set you default dashboards easily.

I have a slightly similar problem, except I'm not using sample data. I have created a new dashboard in the solution that holds all our customizations, saved it, set it as default and published customizations. When I re-open our solution, the dashboard is still the default.

However, it does not show up when I open my CRM, I still get the original system default (Sales Activity Social Dashboard). My new dashboard is in the list, can be selected and works. but is not the default.

To change ownership of a record, either change the value in the lookup field "Owner" to another user, or use the "Assign" button. (you can Assign multiple records at once if you select them in a list view)

To change the default views for all users, you need to customise the entity you need to change (eg Account), select the view you want to be the default (eg Active Accounts) and click "Set as Default Public View", then publish the entity.

If you only have a couple of users and want to get them up and running for a quick trial, they can simply select the right view and then they can set that as their own default view for the purposes of testing things out.

    Thanks Marianne

How do I change the Default System View to All Active Accounts and change the ownership of Sample Data?

The Dashboard shows your sales activity.

The sample data has you as owner of all posts.

When your users start to create accounts, contacts and opportunities their dashboard will show data.

You own all active accounts now. When your users put in their own account the view will be populated.

If you want to change what they see, you can change the ownership of the sample data. Or you can change the default system view to All Active Accounts.
