POST new items to BC365 using REST API

Hi there everyone,

I am trying to make a simple post request to the items endpoint  in Business Central 365. I am currently using Postman. When making the request, I get this response:

"error": {
        "code""Internal_DataNotFoundFilter",
        "message""There is no Item within the filter.\r\n\r\nFilters: No.: 1002  CorrelationId:  19fa1056-e30f-48c7-b667-cd55aa59c9bb."
    }

Request to "/api/v2.0/items" endpoint:
{
    "number""1002",
    "displayName""TestItem123",
    "type""Inventory",
    "itemCategoryId""77c91c07-4189-ec11-bb8d-6045bd8e575f",
    "itemCategoryCode""TABLE",
    "blocked"false,
    "gtin""",
    "inventory"4,
    "unitPrice"1503.4,
    "priceIncludesTax"false,
    "unitCost"1172.7,
    "taxGroupId""ecc71c07-4189-ec11-bb8d-6045bd8e575f",
    "taxGroupCode""TAXABLE",
    "baseUnitOfMeasureId""e0c51c07-4189-ec11-bb8d-6045bd8e575f"
}
I have attempted to setup No. series, item templates and API setup but i cannot seem to get it to work.
Could someone please let me know what I am missing/doing wrong?
Really appreciate any help.

    I can't thank you enough!

    I deleted all field and only had number and displayName, this allows the POST to work with no issues.

    Leaving the number field blank and only populating the displayName with my current No. Series configuration returns the following error:

    "error": {

           "code": "Application_DialogException",

           "message": "It is not possible to assign numbers automatically. If you want the program to assign numbers automatically, please activate Default Nos. in No. Series ITEM.  CorrelationId:  c6ad8048-7d37-4cf8-9182-bbf162213cce."

       }

    But this is perfect, I can continue now.

    1. I mean use number and disaplyName only in Body and remove remaining fields.

    2. Leave number field blank (make sure default No.s is true in No. Series Setup)

    Please elaborate but here is what I think you were asking.

    Even if I leave displayName blank it refers me back to the number field.

    I have created a No. Series and set to manual as you suggest.

    Then in the Item Template page I assign that number series.

    However, I still get this error when trying to post a new material. I know that is it related to the "number" field but cannot figure out how to fix it.

    If I change the number to an existing one in the system I get a different error.

    Is your No. Series set to allow Manual No.s? It needs to be for what you are trying to accomplish.
