convert personal dashboard to system dashboard

Hello - I've created a dashboard with some default webparts. I think the components used to be called webparts in SharePoint, what are they called in CRM?

Anyway, the dashboard I've created is only visible to me and not to any other users. I think CRM describes this as a "personal dashboard" as opposed to a "system dashboard."

So how can I convert a personal dashboard that is only viewable by me into a system dashboard that is viewable by everyone? Also, is there a way for me to set a particular dashboard as the default dashboard displayed to users?

There are two ways of creating a 'system dashboard'

    1. In order to retain the ownership of the dashboard which you created, select the dashboard and select 'Share' (in the actions pane in the ribbon bar) and then assign the read, write, delete, append, assign and share permission to the user(s) / team(s).

    2. Another way to is create the dashboard directly in the solution and publish it. This dashboard will be available in system dashboard. Select the dashboard and then 'Set this as default' .(You will see this option right above the definition are. Hint: Set the component type as 'Dashboard')

Although there are many articles on dashboards, you can read this one for starters.

    Hi Andrew,

if you just want to share your personal dashboard to others, follow what Farhan says in #1. If you also used a personal view to create the chart, you will need to share that Personal View as well

If you want to convert a personal chart/dashboard, follow the steps below. Note that you basically need to recreate the Dashboard from Settings > Customization > Customize the System > Dashboards

    Convert Personal to System Chart

    1. Navigate to the entity the chart is related to, e.g. Opportunities, expand Charts, select YourPersonalChart (this will export as an XML file)
    2. Click Charts tab, Export Chart, and save to My Documents or Desktop
    3. Navigate to Settings>Customization> Customize the System
    4. Expand Entities, Opportunity, click Charts
    5. Click More Actions, select Import Chart
    6. Browse to the saved XML file, Open, Import, then Close
    7. Publish All Customizations – Done, it’s now a System Chart
    8. Scroll to Dashboards
    9. Open the dashboard you want to add that chart to, or, create a new dashboard from this area (creating a dashboard from this areas automatically makes it a system dashboard)
    10. Add the new chart to this dashboard (Publish)

    Hope this helps.
