How to find Sales Order No. from a Finished Production Order in Business Central?

Hello all,

I have a scenario in Business Central where a Production Order has been finished. I need to find out which Sales Order this production order was originally linked to.

I know that when a Production Order is created directly from a Sales Order, there should be a link, but once the order is finished, it’s not clear where to check.

  • Is there a way to see the Sales Order No. directly from the Production Order card/lines?

  • Or should I trace it through Item Ledger Entries / Reservation Entries / Item Tracking to see which Sales Order consumed the output?

  • What’s the best practice for identifying the originating Sales Order for a finished production order?

Thanks in advance for your help!

trace it through Item Ledger Entries / Reservation Entries / Item Tracking to see which Sales Order consumed the output.
We have created custom fields to store Sales Order No. and Sales Order Line No.

    Hello Padmavathy,

You can use Item Ledger Entries → Applied Entries to backtrack from Prod. Output to Sales Shipment

If the Production Order was generated based from Sales Order, then in Finished production order header should be Source Type=Sales Header, and Source No.=Sales Order No.

Tracking through Item ledger entries, to see which sales order consumed the output is also an option, but You would need to look through Sales Shipment in the middle.
