Hi All, 

could you please define the use of Ribbon Workbench for dynamics ? and what is the advantages of installing it ? 

is this supported by Microsoft ? 

and, for banking projects, is it safe to install it ?

    It's third party tool used to customize the Ribbon easily

    Hi AlaaMoh,

    It's not supported by Microsoft.

    If you want to do in supported way, you can use the default method for the Ribbon customization, but it will consume lots of timing for finding and editing the right region in XML, import and export of the solution, etc.,

    My opinion about the tool is it's safe and good to use and i didn't find any disadvantage by using this tool.

    It will reduce the time for customizing the Ribbon in the CRM

    Hi AlaaMoh

    Microsoft allows you to edit the Ribbon XML to modify the options that appear on the ribbon in form or sub-grid etc. Ribbon XML is a tool that makes it easy to edit Ribbon XML. Regarding your question that if is it safe to install for banking projects, you are not going to install this on your production server, are you? Its good to install it on the dev server and modify the ribbon then deploy these changes on production server using a managed solution. I have been using this tool on my dev server and have faced no problem.

    yes you are right, it will not be installed on the production server, but also the development server contains some of production data.

    i think this tool will be very helpful for a new CRM developer like me, but i am afraid of installing it

    Hi Alaa,

    Ribbon Workbench is a tool (packaged in one managed solution), well, it is not supported by Microsft, it is a free tool, but, I think it is safe to install, since it is managed solution and the author create a separated functionality which you can install and remove it easily.

    The advantage:

    - It helps you to edit ribbon

    - of course with visualization

    - because in my opinion, of course you can just edit the ribbon XML, but the fatal & failure rate of editing XML is riskier than using visualization, drag and drop, click and type, right?

    - save your time and you know editing XML is not easy

    - You can just edit the ribbon from the entity that you want to edit using solution packaging.

    - You can then save it and automatically affect your solution component.

    this tool can help a lot, the problem is that its not supported and we are working on a huge project that needs to be safe, supported, and stable.
