    You can achieve this via workflow. E.g. Create 2 fields (field 'a' & 'b' - whole number and decimal number) and drag them in to the form.

    Create a workflow :- Start When = Record Fields change (check the date field)

    Add an update step in that workflow and select appropriate entity.

    Set properties - highlight 'whole number' field = 'a'.

    Operator = increment by

    Look for - 1st drop down = the respected entity 2nd drop down = Field 'b'  the decimal number field.

    Hit add, save and close, activate the workflow.

    Now the drawback here is, you always have to fill in a value (e.g. 1) in this field 'b' (decimal number field) whenever a new record is created in that entity, just once. This would be kind of a business required field for this scenario. You can set field 'a' as a read only field, so that no one messes up with it.

    Now if any one modifies the date field, field 'a' would do what you need.

    I am just giving you a glimpse that this could be achieved without any hardcore customization. You can brainStrom your ideas and edit this example.

    The other way would be creating an on-change script that will input the value in new field that shows count.

    Plug-in is another option.

    Aasif Sheikh  Thank you so much for this. I think this is the only blog i found for this kind of issue.

    I was able to enahce this by creating workflow to update Decimal field (b) with default value 1 instead of manual input.

    You can learn more on this by follwing this steps here: https://dynamics365blog.com/
