Hello I just got a new job as IT support and they have this program

Dynamics

I am so new to it.

Well they want me to do a new install on a new computer, which I did, but not sure what to do to connect to their data.

Please, I have been doing some reading and still cannot find what to do.

They had some support company but not sure what happened with them.

    agree with Leslie,

The forum is good when you already have some base knowledge of the system... It is by no means here to take you by the hand and guide you step by step.

Every customer & installation is different, there is no way you can help effectively thru this forums without a solid information on site.

DM me if you need direct assistance. Without a partner or knowledgeable consultant, you're just going to run into walls...

    RE: New Setup

    Hi,

If you copy the settings from an existing computer, making sure the build number installed is the same (you may want to copy the contents of the Dynamics folder from the working computer to the new computer), it should work. Make sure you copy the information Exactly as it appears in the working computer. I highly recommend that you find a new Dynamics GP partner. This forum is good, but in no way can it replace a competent partner.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

    RE: New Setup

    yes Their SQL Server

The person that was here when it got installed does not know how they got it installed and connected.

There are two computers that work properly but not sure where to look at so that I can copy the connection settings to duplicate them on the new computer.

I did look at the ODBC and there is a Microsoft Dynamic ODBC but it does not even seem connected.

Is there another way that the program connects to SQL server, or is there a way that i can go to working user and check the settings so that can duplicate them on the new computer. so that the program connects?

Thank you I will appreciate all the help you can give me.

    RE: New Setup

    Good day,

When you say 'their data' are you referring to the SQL Database?

You connect via an ODBC, this you can find in Control Panel>Administrative Tools.

    What OS are you using?

    Regards
