How to export the current data of the pos

Hi all,

Just want to ask how to export the current data. ( our goal is to switch to another pos system)

Hi Anna,

I wrote this morning, but it looks like the message wasn't saved. Basically, it depends on what data You want to export: master data (Items, Customers, Suppliers...) or dynamic data (Sales transactions, Purchase Orders and similar). And also, in which format You want data to be exported, for your new software.

Probably there are many ways, but I would suggest two and in both cases talk to a RMS Partner / Expert to help you with:

1.) With RMS StoreOps reports, from where You can export information once the report is generated (this is basic RMS knowledge)

2.) With SQL Server Management Studio (higher level of RMS technical knowledge)

Antonijo has a great answer - there are many ways to do this depending on what data you want to export. If you are switching to one of the low cost direct replacement programs for RMS like Retail Management Hero (or even Cloud Retailer), then your data will transfer with the switch. If you have decided to start from scratch with a new POS system, then generally some of the basic inventory, supplier, and customer information may transfer to the new system.

Like Antonijo said, you will likely want the help of an Microsoft Dynamics RMS partner in your locale. Hi Anna, sorry to hear that you are switching to Clover. We stopped selling and supporting Clover back in 2013. In order to transfer your basic inventory information (no historical data will transfer since you are not switching to one of the low cost replacement programs for RMS), you will need to have your Microsoft Dynamics RMS partner and your Clover Partner coordinate to see what data can transfer and what format the data needs to be in - likely an Excel spreadsheet but please double check. Hi again Anna.

I'm not familiar with Clover, so I can't help You too much. I suggest You talk to a Clover partner and see what data and format Clover needs and if it is possible to be imported. I'm sure Clover has some tools to do this...

On the other hand, if You still haven't decided, I would suggest You to look at Retail Management Hero, for several reasons:

1.) RMH is a natural successor of RMS

2.) it is the same database format, so almost there is no data transfer, You can keep everything

3.) All the RMS functionalities are there, plus new ones

4.) You don't have to invest in training and learning new software, in RMH all the shortcuts and function keys are the same like in RMS

5.) You can use your RMS investment - there is a license key transfer from RMS to RMH (if You are on BREP)

Etc., etc.,...

I could help You on this, find a RMH Partner and all that... If You want...
