Change Item Number on equipment

We need to change the Item Number for equipment in the Equipment Maintenance screen, I think I understand why it is not editable, but is there a way to change it if absolutely necessary? PSTL maybe?

    Thanks for that clarification.  I think what you're looking for is here  - Field Service > Cards > Service Call Management > Equipment > Supersessions button.  Use this window to assign a new equipment number, item number, or reference ID and keep the historical data associated with the original record.

    This will allow you to replace the item number on the equipment record.

    Let me re-phrase, we do not want to change the item number for an item, we would like to select another item number for the equipment

    You can use PSTL to change Item Numbers, but not specific to a Equipment Maintenance only.  Changing the Item Number with PSTL would change it everywhere in the system.
