Planning doesn't respect forecast for an assembly item

Posted on by 10

I have an assembly item which I have made a forecast for. As you can see here, it can see the forecast on the item card, but when I run the Planning Worksheets, it only wants to make 1 item.

I can't figure out why. I even created a Safety Stock Quantity of 10 items, and it won't respect that either.

    Hi DAniele

    Thank you for your suggestions.

The lead time is only 1 day, so that should not impact the planning horizon.

I already tried changing all of the other parameters, but without luck.

I have copied the item to another item now, and now it wants to accept that there is a safety stock of 10 units. It may be because there are already 3 assembly orders on the original item.

But it still won't use the forecast that is on the item (which I have also made on the new item).

    hi

there could be several reasons why the Planning Worksheets are only suggesting 1 item to be made, despite the forecast and safety stock quantities you have set up. Here are a few things you can check:

Lead Time: Check the lead time for the assembly item and make sure it is accurately reflected in the system. If the lead time is longer than the planning period, it may not be suggesting additional items to be made because it is still waiting for the first item to be completed.

Order Policy: Check the order policy set up for the item. If it is set to "Order Up To" or "Order Min/Max," the system will only suggest ordering the minimum or maximum quantity specified. Try changing the order policy to "Lot-for-Lot" or "Order for Quantity" to see if that makes a difference.

Planning Parameters: Review the planning parameters for the item and make sure they are set up correctly. You may need to adjust parameters such as the reorder point or order interval to ensure that the system suggests the appropriate quantity to be made.

Demand: Check the actual demand for the item and make sure it is accurately reflected in the system. If the demand is lower than expected, the system may not suggest ordering additional items.

Constraints: Check if there are any constraints in the system that may be limiting the suggested quantity, such as a limited capacity or resource constraints.
