Hi experts!

In the Sales Analysys Matrix, it seems that I can't compare "Net Change" vs "Budget" of Project.  How can I do that?
I have the same question (0)

    Thank you !

In this video, we can compare Item, but I am wondering I can't compare Resource of Project. How do you think that?

    Hello @CU08052056-0,

In the Sales Analysis Matrix, you can compare Net Change vs Budget for Items, Customers, or Salespersons, but Resources (used in Projects/Jobs) are not supported directly in this matrix. That's why you're unable to compare budget vs actual for project-related Resources here.

Hope the following resources will help you as well!

Hope this answer will help you!

    Hello,

the Sales Analysis Matrix doesn't natively support comparing "Net Change" vs "Budget" for Projects.

But you can achieve this by creating Custom Sales Analysis Reports using line and column templates or by leveraging "Account Schedules with dimensions"

    Hi

It confirms you're using the Sales Analysis Matrix to compare Net Change vs Budget, but the data is tied to Customers, not Projects or Resources. That’s why you're seeing zeros and no meaningful variance.

Here’s what’s happening and how to work around it:

    1. Sales Analysis Matrix Limitations

    • This matrix is designed for Items, Customers, and Salespersons
    • It doesn’t support Resources or Jobs, which are essential for project-based reporting
    • That’s why your project budget and actuals aren’t showing up here

    2. Recommended Alternatives
To compare Net Change vs Budget for Projects, use one of these approaches:

    • Account Schedules with Dimensions
      • Create a schedule filtered by the Job Dimension
      • Add columns for Net Change, Budget, and Variance
      • This gives you full control over layout and comparison logic
    • Job Planning Lines vs Job Ledger Entries
      • Use Job Planning Lines to define your budget
      • Post actuals via Job Journals
      • Run Job WIP or Job Analysis reports to compare planned vs actual usage
    • G/L Budgets with Dimensions
      • Create a G/L Budget tagged with the Project Dimension
      • Use the G/L Balance/Budget report and set “View as” to Net Change
      • This allows direct comparison across periods

Here’s a Microsoft Learn showing how to compare budget vs actual using G/L Budgets:
