Need to bulk edit a field in a record

Hi all:

I may just be missing something, but our company imported a set of Accounts (~11,000) via a .csv file; the import file was not properly checked, so about 5,000 of those records have "FOR IMPORT-" in front of the company name (e.g., "FOR IMPORT-CompanyA", "FOR IMPORT-CompanyB", etc.)

I need to remove the ""FOR IMPORT-" part but leave the "CompanyA", so I don't believe I can use bulk edit via an Advanced Find.  So, my thought is to export all of those to an .xml file, edit properly, then re-import.  However, I am not sure if this will correctly overwrite the name or just create even more Accounts.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Hi Rob,

Yes, you can use this process to bulk update the Accounts.

This is the procedure in detail:

    1. In Advanced Find, filter the Accounts and fields desired

    2. Click to export to excel, and make sure the checkbox 'make this data available for reimport...' is selected

    3. Through Excel functions, you can remove the characters "FOR IMPORT-" from column Name. Please check the link below:

    4. Save the file and reimport the xml file.

This way, the existing Accounts will be updated.

You should use OOTB bulk update facility. You can export all the records from CRM,(check the box make the records available for import), save the xml, open in excel, change your values and reimport. You will be able to update the records with out creating any new records.

Please let me know if you need more clarity.

Please mark as an answer if it solved your query. Thanks.
