Convert Quote to PDF

Hi everyone,

I’m encountering an issue with the Productivity Tools → Export to PDF feature in a sandbox environment (copied from another working sandbox).

When I go to App Settings > Productivity Tools > Export to PDF, I try to enable the feature by selecting the Quote entity from the list. However, once I select it and click to enable, it immediately fails with an error message:

“Updating the settings failed.”

No additional error details are shown, and the feature remains disabled.

In the source environment (original sandbox), the same configuration works without issues.

What I’ve checked

  • My user has System Administrator and Environment Admin roles.
  • The environments marked as Sandbox (not trial or developer).
  • The “PDF Document Generation” solution is installed.
  • Other entities in the list behave the same when selected.

Has anyone else experienced this issue when enabling Convert to PDF for Quote or other entities in a copied environment? Any ideas on what might be causing the failure or how to force-enable this setting?

Thanks in advance!

Power Platform Admin Center → select your environment. Reimport or upgrade the “PDF Document Generation” managed solution from Microsoft AppSource. Sometimes copying environment might create issues and also check security roles/premission

    Thanks, Ramesh

    Hi,

This issue often occurs in copied sandbox environments due to inconsistencies in solution references or missing internal configurations that don’t carry over properly during the copy process.

Here are a few things you can try:

    1. Reinstall or reimport the “PDF Document Generation” solution in the target environment. Even if it appears installed, a reimport can help re-establish any broken dependencies.

    2. Check for missing dependencies using the Power Platform Admin Center or Solution Checker. Sometimes, the Quote entity might be customized in a way that breaks compatibility with the PDF export feature.

    3. Verify the environment language settings. If the source and target environments have different base languages or language packs, it might affect metadata resolution for entities like Quote.

    4. Use the Web API or XrmToolBox to inspect the pdfsettings entity (if available) and see if there’s a way to manually enable the setting for Quote. This is more advanced but can help bypass UI limitations.

    5. Clear browser cache or try in incognito mode—occasionally, stale metadata in the browser can cause UI-level failures.

If none of these work, I’d recommend raising a support ticket with Microsoft, especially since the feature works in the source environment.

Let us know if you find a workaround!

    Best regards,
    Daniele

    Hi,
You might want to try reinstalling the tool and test. Otherwise, raise a Microsoft support ticket for the same.

    Hope this is helpful.

'PDF Document Generation' solution does not exists. In fact, with the new model, you do not even see the Sales related solutions in y our environment.
There is no reinstall or fix option available.
