Fixed Assets GL Posting Unable to correct Acct #

The user retired the asset with an account number missing. When the GL entry was created in the FA GL window, it will not allow her to post it because the number is blank. She is able to enter the correct number but it just clears out again and gives an invalid account error. She attempted to undo retire and correct the asset but, unfortunately, the incorrect entries still attempt to post with the missing account so she is stuck. Why is she not able to enter the correct account number and have it "take"?
