Running inventory reconcile from SQL

Hello,

We have a process that require to move inventory through Scribe from a virtual company to two operating entities. Unfortunatly, this creates a lot of problems in the inventory and we regularly have to run Inventory reconcile.

I've seen a lots of Storeproc in SQL related to inventory adjustment and was wondering if any one would have ever run a reconcile running storeproc or calling multiple storeproc through SQL?

This would allow to run the reconcile during the off business hours without having to click on the Reconcile button.

Thanks in advance for your replies

I wrote something on the PSTL

I think we could do with improvements in this area of GP - it causes so many people pain. For the moment this is your only option.

I'm never 100% trusting a backup is good until after the restore :)

    Hello Béat,

I guess so, since i'm a newcommer to GP I guess that's why i've been asking. I've taken a look at the web much doing searches and was not successfull this is why I posted this on this forum.

Thanks for the suggestion of using PSTL. Just installed them and I'm trying a reconcile on one of our test database at the moment. So far, not sure it is really faster yet but I guess that you have tried this many time. I've recorded a macro and will open GP using an automation agent. I guess that's what i'll have to do for now.

I'm a huge fan of SQL as this is far more flexible in what you can do (for sure far more dangerous too !) and this is why I was wondering if anyone ever tempted something. I'll probably give it a try one day or another when I have some times. Having this as a generic storeproc would greatly improved general GP experience.

The good thing about test database is that if you screw anything all you need to do is restore your backup

    Hi JPG,

if not mistaken this question has been posted quite a few times... Reconcile Inventory thru the SQL back-end is not a recommended practice, since you may miss some of the steps and render your system useless...

However, if your concern is speed and length of the whole process, you may want to look into the PSTL (Profesionnal service tools library) from Microsoft. This is freely available with your GP installation and there is a function that is a replacement (more efficient) to the generic Inventory Reconcile process in GP.

Talk to your partner if you never heard about PSTL, as it requires some setup steps in GP.

We have received a similar request from our customer, working on custom automated solution for inventory reconcile for off office hours. Please drop an email to discuss.
