Hi,
When creating a released production order, the line is defaulting to the UoM of the Production BoM. Is it possible to have this default to the item Base UoM?
Thanks
Dan

Dan,
I would ask your Partner to add an extension to Default the Item Base UOM on the Prod. Order. However, if you wan this to be the norm, why not create a Prod. BOM with that UOM. This will eliminate having an extension.
Thanks,
Steve
Thanks Steve, understood.
However my issue is the default UoM when entering production order. It is currently defaulting to the production BOM. How do I make it default to the item base UoM?
Dan,
No. I can have a Prod. BOM with many Items and all different UOM for each Item. My Prod. BOM lets say is GAL or Gallons. All my components will be based on their UOM but under each component Item I will have an Item UOM conversion to GAL. So lets say I have an Item in OZ (ounces). The Qty I need is 1 OZ. To make say 10 GAL I will have a conversion of GAL = 133.22787 per 1 OZ or for 10 GAL I need 1332.xxx OZ's.
Thanks,
Steve
Hi Steve,
Thanks very much for the quick response.
If I have one production BOM, with multiple associated items with different UoMs, are you suggesting I need to create a new production BOM for each UoM to achieve my desired result?
Thanks
Dan
Dan,
If an item is stocked in one unit of measure but produced in another, a production order is created that uses a manufacturing batch unit of measure to calculate the correct quantity of the components during the Refresh Production Order batch job. An example of a manufacturing batch unit of measure calculation is when a manufactured item is stocked in pieces but produced in tons. If this is what you require, then the Production BOM UOM is correct. However, if you want the Prod. BOM to be equal to the Base UOM of the Item, please update the Prod. BOM to the correct UOM and update the Components to make sure their individual UOM converts to the UOM used on the Prod. BOM.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Steve
