There have been some clear limitations of the integrated TMS for both less than truckload as well as parcel even with bolt-on solutions.

We are generating a list of potential companies to include in an RFP and I'm wondering what companies are using with tight integration with D365 F&O.

Among the names that have popped up so far are BlueJay & Shipping Solutions (UPS recommended but were not clear about prior integrations). What are others that people are using?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Marc Rohde,

I would have proposed you PCmiler TMS but didn't hear good feedback for the last 2 years.

But I will strongly suggest for BlueJay,  it's well known and stable solution.

I'm working for a company called CAPcargo and we have developed our own Transport management module inside D365FO. It integrates with Sales, Purchase and Transfer orders but it can also be used as a standalone solution.

Some companies known for their tight integration with D365 F&O (Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations) in the field of transportation management systems (TMS) include:

    BluJay Solutions

    MercuryGate

    Manhattan Associates

    3Gtms

    Trimble Transportation

These companies offer integrated solutions that allow seamless data exchange and process synchronization between D365 F&O and the TMS, enhancing transportation operations within the broader supply chain. It's recommended to research and evaluate each vendor's capabilities to find the best fit for your specific requirements.

In addition to the options mentioned, it is also possible to create a custom TMS (Transportation Management System) that integrates with all the required services. With the appropriate software development tools and expertise, you can build a system that precisely matches your unique requirements and integrates it with D365 F&O and other necessary services for seamless functionality. Developing a custom TMS allows you to have full control over the features, integrations, and customization options to meet your specific business needs.

I can suggest consulting with custom software development companies to assist you in building a tailored TMS that integrates with all the desired services. For example: https://wezom.com/tms-system

    Hi marc,

What are the clear limitations you see in TMS for LTL and parcel solutions?

  • MarcRohde Profile Picture

A few that have been an issue for us:

    • The complexity of configuration for freight rates
    • No ability to use carrier minimums without modification
    • No ability to rate using weight breaks so cost comparisons are not accurate on LTL
    • You cannot generate PRO numbers for carriers so you will likely need to maintain a list of PRO numbers to assign

We have also found that it has been challenging to find consultants who really understand logistics to help with configuring Dynamics for the TMS functions. So much money is left on the table with a poorly configured rating engine for LTL.
