User only can see their role in my setting -> Roles -> Available Roles

Hi There,

Our staff is complaining as whenever they switch role they have to see so many roles that is not related to them.

Is there any way to set to let the user see only their roles instead of seeing all available roles?

Thank a lot for your help!

Best Regards,

Vic

I agree it’s an unusual requirement.

But I could see a case where a user has two distinctly different roles that is unique to them. They may switch between being a sales order processor and purchase admin on different days.

As they are unique in this flexibility, you don’t want to give them a role centre just for them. When there are serviceable sales and purchase role centres set up already for the business.

Alternatively, it could be a support role where it helps to open the screen with the same as view as the user they are helping.

You can of course use permission to keep a user from opening a specific role center. But putting a security filter on table 2000000178 did not change the list of roles that showed up when i tried to change role. I could of course have done something wrong when testing. But i was not able to make it work.

So for that i think the best solution is to customize a role center so your user does not have to change roles.  That is also the design idea behind the role center in my opinion. Collect all the  functionality your user need in one role center.

I had wondered if permission filters would achieve what the original poster wanted. Pretty sure it would but I haven’t tested.

However, as somebody who regularly flicks between companies (as opposed to profiles), I find browser bookmarks are by far the best way to move quickly between sessions with different settings though.

Less clicks and you can keep different settings running in different windows quickly and easily also without it updating your default user settings.

Roles are not the same as permission. So you can not solve this issue using permissions.

You can also ask your partner to customize role centers so your user does not have to change between them but have a role center that combines the functionality they need.

If you have a scenario where users regularly switch between different role profiles, I would save URL’s for each of the role centres in their browsers so they can just access them with a browser shortcut.

    Hello,

The available roles is a temp table. But you can perhaps do the following:

    Use direct rules:

    businesscentral.dynamics.com/.../

This will open manufacturing role center.

    Also:

    learn.microsoft.com/.../easier-choose-right-role-center

    Hope it helps.
