Hi - Help needed
I need to do a reinstall of my mssql express server - I was using:
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (SP3) - 10.0.5538.0 (X64) Apr 3 2015 14:50:02
Copyright (c) 1988-2008 Microsoft Corporation Express Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 6.2 <X64> (Build 9200: )
It doesn't matter what version I reinstall as long as it's MSsql Express 2008R2 SP3 or greater.
Does anyone have detail information on how to reinstall a new sql server and which packages to install, etc... So many options and packages!!!
I also remember that in needed to install sql 2008 2005 Backward Compatibility afterwards.
Thanks in advance for the help.
Danny

Hi Danny,
I would upgrade and install SQL 2014 Express. you will also need the SQL 2005 backwards compatibility.
The trick to install SQL 2K8R2 and later in a non domain network is using the default instance during the install, choosing the advanced login method(Windows and SQL Authentication) and enabling the correct protocols after installation.
