Yomi Field Mystery

Hi,

First Name-50

Middle Name-100

Last Name-50

Full Name-210

I have increased the the Middle name(Contact) length from 50 to 100.Now its giving error when I am consuming the complete length.

Trace error:

    I could be wrong, but have a feeling that Yomi name will consume 4 bytes per "letter" (so 2 bytes for each unicode 2 byte character). Plus spaces and/or commas of course.

    Why on earth would you need 100 characters for middle name?

    And do you really need that to be included in the full name? Could you not use a simpler full name format (eg Last, First), and then use a custom field for the "Long" full name, to avoid the yomi name being involved. Or do you actually use Yomi names?

    Yes we do want to include Middle name in Full name.

    Can you really display a lookup field for Contacts with over 200 characters (since Contact lookup fields always use Full Name) ?

    What I am suggesting is that you reconfigure the full name field so it does not break the indexing, but then add a custom "Full Name" field used for other display purposes, mail merge or whatever else.
