Since Business Central is on cloud, what can I do if I want to look at the tables of the SQL server?

Hi Community,

I have been using NAV 2018 for sometime, and I realize that when I migrate to BC, i won't be able to check on the server to see the SQL tables.

May I know where are the ways see the SQL tables of my NAV BV?

Thank you!

I have the same question (0)

On premise or on cloud. You can continue with sql access if on premise. If you’re just reading information from sql there are alternatives for cloud

In BC Saas you don't have access to the SQL database.

You can however export a recent backup of the db and restore it locally to have a look:

Some other options if you mostly want to view data:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../devenv-view-table-data

    docs.microsoft.com/.../admin-view-table-information

    docs.microsoft.com/.../

If you find you need access because you alter data the processes relating to that need a review. Development offers more capabilities for making data changes in discrete scenarios

    Hi Marco,

Generally, I want to pull out tables from BC to Jet report, hence I need to know the tables. Else I guess I can also check out the Help sections to see which tables.

But I'm pretty used to using SQL script to pull out data, it is faster and easier for me to understand the tables.

    Thank you.

    Hi

Jet Report has a report named Data Dictionary. See below. It has all the tables and field. You can use this report for Jet Report.  Also you can use page inspection in BC to find the table name ( https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/across-inspect-page )
