hi All,

I need to create a complex route wherein couple of primary operations should execute parallelly. But when as per MS documentation, it asks me to enable "Route network" in production control parameters. But how do I instruct route about sequence of operations in below manner:

-starts with operation 10 (able to configure)
-followed by 20 and 30, but parallelly. (unable to configure)
-next operation for both 20 and 30 is 40 (Able to configure)

Thanks,
Pranav

Suppose you have 4 operations with name:
    1) 10_OperA
    2) 20_OperB
    3) 30_OperC
    4) 40_OperD

    You requirement is

The reason i have added OperationA,B,C,D, just to avoid further confusion while explaining the routes.

Then Go to Production module > Common > All Routes > Create New > Click on Route Details.

    Define as below:

    Thanks for responding.

In the scenario trying to solve, all operations are primary, and each operation would have to be referenced in BOM lines.

Can you please respond in this context.

    Thanks
    Pranav

Can you please refer this link once and confirm either of which route network suits your requirement?

And regarding this statement "and each operation would have to be referenced in BOM lines.",

Will there be challenge in using the same operation number as i explained in my previous reply. Are you referencing to BOM lines so that once the operation is complete you can consume the BOM lines and mark as ended?

    Regards,
    Neeraj Kumar

    Its the independent operations.

And yes the intention is to backflush once operation is completed.

    Thanks,
    Pranav

Thank for the information. So, as mentioned in the blog as well. Below one should be your setup. And since Operation number is different in all the lines, you can use the same to reference to the BOM and mark "end" on the BOM.

    Oper No. Operations Next
    10 10 20
    20 20 40
    30 30 40
    40 40 0

    Regards,
    Neeraj Kumar

I have tested this a number of times. Every time, I come out of that route, D365 is automatically sequencing it in a linear manner (Jus as in below table). I believe this scenario cannot be accommodated and seems like a bug.

    Operation number Operation Next
    10 10 20
    20 20 30
    30 30 40
    40 40

Curious to know, did it work for you?

    Thanks,
    Pranav

    Hi Pranav,

Yes it is working for me.
After enabling the route networks option in the Production control parameters, it allows us to set the Next operation numbers and save it also.
Before enabling the parameters, it was auto-updating. You can try once again and then before coming back from route page, click on the button "Update route" to validate whether it is changing or not.

    Neeraj Kumar

Thanks @CA Neeraj Kumar. It worked.

The mistake I was doing since yesterday was that I was trying this on the route which was created before enabling "Route network" in production parameters. And then when enabled, it wasn't behaving differently.

And after ur post, I created everything at fresh, and it worked.

    Thanks again,
    Pranav
