How to reactivate an operation (which is completed/finished) on production order

Hi experts,

I need a little bit help. I can't find the right way to get the production order back to production floor execution.

Scenario:

  • we have an production order which is started
  • we are reporting progress on the production order with some random quantities
  • we in the end say at report as finish on PFE that it's completed
  • after that the production order is not visible anymore

My question is how to get back the production order which has the operations completed/ended/finished?

Thank you in advance!

    Hi DRR,

You can try to reverse the production order status. Please refer to this MS Doc:

Reverse the production order status - Supply Chain Management | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn

But as I know, there is no way to cancel or change the production order once it has been ended.

    Hi Charlotte,

the production order is not in the ended status.

We have just completed the operation in production floor execution.

But it can and will happen that the workers will make a mistake and complete the production order to early.

The question is how can I reopen the operation on the production order which is set to be completed.

So that I will get back the production order on production floor execution.

    Thank you.

If you go to the Route of the Production order then click on the operation number you want to correct, under the fasttab of Update, toggle the Report as Finished from Yes to No. This should allow you to see the operation again and continue posting to it.

    Hi Tom,

    thank you for your feedback.

    Have done this:

But I don't see the production order in production floor execution. Also I've check the jobs:

The route group is setup like this:

Do you think I should also change the status of the job for the operation?

Because I was also trying that, but can't change the status of the job.

    Hi DDR,

When in the Route Step where we changed the "report as finished" flag, I was able to change the "Started" switch on the Update tab from Yes to No.

Once changed, I used the "Inquiries" drop down at the top and went to "Jobs" and the status changed to "Coming". I then went back to the Operation and flipped the "Started" switch back to yes and back to Jobs to see the Status of "Started".

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Tom,

thank you, I also can change the status of the operation and job. But for some reason the production order is still not visible on the production floor execution. Do you maybe have any proposal for that, how to do it? Because from what I see the order should be  visible now but it's not.

    Thank you!

I'm sorry but I just don't know enough about ME to give you an answer. Maybe check out Yammer groups for answers if you don't receive one here. Sorry

Hi DDR. I don't know if you ever received a satisfactory answer to your question or if you use Operation Scheduling or Job Scheduling. I will say that we have this same issue sometimes, I will also say that we are using Job scheduling for our Operations. This allows us to use the "Revert completed status of a Job" utility in the Production control> Periodic tasks> Production order status update.

All that is required is to enter the Job ID of the route operation and click OK. this will open the Job in Production Floor execution so you can adjust, and then close/complete again.

NOTE, this utility only works if you are able to input the Job ID, and also only works for "Process" jobs. Setup will not re-open using this method. However it is usually the Process job that gets completed with no quantity, or something of that nature and is all that needs to be re-opened for proper quantity capture before ending the Operation.

    Found a solution:

    Use this job:
Select the production order, operation etc...and click on. It will show you prod.order again for that operation on the PFE interface.
