Hi all,

Recently new to using CRM. Does anyone know how to link/connect a contact/account to a Product. Our comany uses a Contact as a child and product as a group activity but we havent changed any formats of the form.

Let me know, all ideas accepted.

Thanks Deanne

Hi Deanne, Thank you for reaching out.

You can link/connect an entity to another entity, in this case contact or account to a Product. Below is a link to how to add a new field of the lookup type.

    www.microsoft.com/.../create-or-edit-entity-fields.aspx

However, if you are attempting to replicate the customer field on the opportunity record that is not easily accomplished. You would need to create a lookup to the account, and then another field that is a lookup to the contact entity.

Let me know if that answered your questions or if you have more detail. Have a great day!

Thanks, Just to clarify will this work on existing contacts and existing products?

    Hi Deanne,

Once you create the field then you can populate the field to show the relationship. Best way to do this is use advanced find and export to excel, then import back in to update the relationship.

It looks that you want to associate contact / account with product, so that you can identify the child (Contacts) for the group activity (product) or vice versa.

You can simply create N:N relationship between this entities and place sub-grid on entity form of each other. Here ex. Placing contact sub-grid on product form.

    Thanks

    That sounds right!

Could you tell me a step by step process, if you don't mind? Just want to get it done without messing it up.

    Thanks

    Great idea Inogic.

Deanne, below is a link to the TechNet article that walks you through creating these relationships and adding to the form. Reach out if you have issues.
