Real time workflows

Hi,

I have a real time workflow that populates data from related entities. The fields that gets auto populated are read only. One of the field is not auto populating but it used to before. I deleted that workflow and created a new one but it still not auto populating. How should I troubleshoot this issue?

    Check whether related entity record contains value , may be related record does not have value for the field that you mapped to auto populate.

    No Chitra, that field does have value. Because I enter value into that field and save the form and then a subgrid + button gets created in the same form after saving. when I open that new record from the subgrid + button, I have the same related field in the new form which is read only and should populate the value. I don't know why it is not populating!

    Ok, looks like you are partially correct Chitra. When record is created and pressed 'Save' to enable subgrid, it is not saving the data. I have to press 'Save & Close' and then reopen that record and I am seeing 'Unsaved Changes' in the bottom. Then I press save in the bottom again and then open the subgrid new record. Here I am able to see the auto populated field value.

    This way of interacting with the form is not feasible for the end users right? Is there anything that I can do to make the form save its data when 'Save' is pressed?

    if you want to auto populate fields from parent record on create of child record there is no need of real time workflow , you can achieve this by just adding mapping in the relationship. GO to customization-> Entity (your entity)-> relationship (1:N) or ( N:1) based on which entity you are. If you selected parent entity go to 1:N relationship and select the relationship between parent entity and your child entity then click on mappings to map fields from parent to child.

    Chitra,

    I tried mapping the fields. Its still the same. After entering the details in the parent record, 'Save' and when subgrid opens a new record it is not auto populating. I have to press 'Save and Close' in the parent form and then reopen it. Also like I said I am seeing 'unsaved changes' when parent form is reopened. Its only after I press save and open the subgrid new form I can see the auto populated field value.

    What does this mean?

    It's strange behavior and  it seems others as well reported this behavior in the forum past.

    Can you convert your real time workflow into background workflow and observe the behavior ?

    You can check if the workflow is running under calling user and if the user has write permission on the workflow. The fields might be a security fields enable.
